Interior Exterior

By layering a photograph of an exterior (landscape, sky, ocean, etc.) over an interior (hotel room, airport gate, forest, etc.), the viewer is lost in two worlds. This illusion whether it is a bedroom window in a forest or a sky on a bed begs the question of where we are in our modern lifestyles. Are we more consumed by the comfort of our man-made homes and airports or are we more curious by the outside world? Do we seek the known or the unknown? I have chosen to combine these possibilities to explain how life is more complicated than these questions. Just like every series in this portfolio, I argue that life is not the singular exposure taken and printed, but instead layers upon layers of our pasts and histories that tell the whole story.
